As we were traveling along the top of Cedar Mountain toward the Girls' Camp where we to have our reunion, we came upon this large flock of sheep. A woman with a twin baby stroller started through the flock and told the cars to stay very close to the car in front so that the sheep didn't run between.
After bouncing over miles and miles of dirt, gravely road, we finally got the camp and set up.
We had line dancing and desserts at the pavilion then spent ouir first night on the mountain.
Early the next morning I was awakened around 7:00 a.m. by the chatter of these two grandsons - Marcus and Drake - who found embers in the fire pit so they started shaving pieces of their stick "swords" and got it smoking. I started fanning and blowing on it and we got a flame then put on kindling and eventually logs to make a nice fire on a chilly morning.

Barry fixed our first breakfast - granola, yogurt, berries, bananas, tang, milk, boiled eggs, etc. It was delicious and didn't require a lot of work because the girls needed to get ready for their activity with children ages 6 to 10.
Friday morning the men did clean-up around camp and the women and girls tied 3 quilts to give to Humanitarian Aid.

The Lundins helped tie the quilt that I took.
Kendra and Barry had a treasure hunt for the children then the 2nd hour Trina, Kendra and Barry did crafts with the children.
Barry was a great hit with his balloon tying.
Our boys where busy with the paint and their projects.
Kendra is trying to perfect a paint blowing project.
Kira and some girls are making creations with miniature marshmallows and toothpicks
Trina has some fun water games that have all of the children wet. Even after she was done, they persisted in filling bags and buckets with water and throwing it at others.

Both Garth and I got a lot of grandbaby holding time. Here is he keeping Alec Halterman happy.
Alec was a pretty good baby for being on his first camp out.

As the sun rose over our campground, we decided to put up our canopy over our table for shade during lunch and after.
Trina and Kendra are rehearsing the boys for their skits Friday evening.
I couldn't resist these pictures of Mitchell Harding and Tessa Halterman who were fascinated by the gravel and soft powdery mountain dirt.

Friday evening we gathered at the pavilion for a combined meal
That evening we gathered at the amphitheater for skits. This first one was by the Corrin Nielson clan.
Corrin is in charge of the affair.

Then, of course, I had to have a picture of these grandsons. Only Drake realized I was taking it and had to acknowledge it.
The Lundin men did a skit about who had the most powerful "gun".

Trina and Kendra had the children do 3 little vignettes from my early life.
First was Janice, Corrin and Eric, spying on
Quinta and Dell when they came home from a a date.
The second was the "Sear's Catalogue" incident when Dell was dating Quinta. Sheridan was Dell and Drake was Grandpa Nielson who didn't know how to entertain young men who came to the house so he handed him a Sears' Catalog to entertain him. The boys did a good job.
The 3rd scene was when Fred was dating LuDeen and he came home from the army boot camp and brought a couple of his friends to our house. Dad had his barbells out on the back lawn and the guys were trying to show off.
When they found one too heavy, I walked out and lifted it up to show them it wasn't that heavy. Kira is portraying me here.

We were all supposed to take pictures but Corrin excused everyone. We got our family, though.
When it started to get dark, Jean Nielson invited us all back to the amphitheater to watch a Disney
movie, "Blackbeard's Ghost" - reminiscent of growing up in LaVerkin. She brought an old fashioned popcorn popper, a cotton candy maker and had twizzlers and cans of soda. When we got there we were each given 3 tickets good for 3 different treats. Jean, David and Daniel spent the time keeping everyone supplied.
The last event of the reunion was held Saturday morning. We all gathered at the pavilion for a slide show about the advent of our flag and some reminiscences about Quinta. She would have been 80 years old that day.
Then we met at the flag pole where the Scouts raised the U.S. Flag and led us in the pledge of allegiance and also brought out the Utah flag.

We made the rounds to tell people goodbye and packed up our camp and left the beautiful cool of the Kolob Mountain.
On our way out we paused to take this picture of the cabin that my dad built when I was around 11 years of age. I helped what I could on it. Some of my greatest memories are of the spring and fall each year when we came to this beautiful spot and opened and closed the cabin and could stay on this beautiful property during that time.
THE REUNION WAS GREAT! THOSE OF YOU WHO DIDN'T GO, REALLY MISSED OUT ON A SPECIAL EXPERIENCE.
