Our Trip to Michigan - WithThayne's family

We had a wonderful time with Thayne and Jenny during our week with them. One of the first things we did was attend a session at the Michigan Temple. This is the first time we have attended one of the small temples and we found it quite fascinating.

Janice, Garth, Thayne and Jenny

When asked what we would like to do while there, we both agreed that we would enjoy helping Thayne do some of the things that he needed and wanted to get done.

Garth is watching as Thayne digs holes to find his drain field. As luck would have it, his septic system filled up just before our visit so they will be having a new one put in.

Thayne has been building a beautiful patio behind his house and had it nearly finished. On this day he was cutting small pieces of pavers to fill in the final places needed

I scraped & removed peeling paint from this door frame and repainted the door.

I also painted the door and frame going into the "wood" room off the family room.

Garth is spreading coal slag sand over the paving stones to fill in the cracks.

Then he tamped it all in and filled more in until it was even.

Garth enjoyed driving the riding lawn mower -something that is needed with the 1 acre lot Thayne has that is all grass and trees.

Picking up the apples that had fallen was another useful task.

With the paving done, it was time to move the unused pavers to another spot. Thayne is seeing how a circle will work and I am handing him the brick (while Garth takes the picture)

And Garth is handing Thayne the pavers while I take the picture.

Last of all, Garth and Thayne are transferring the remaining slag from the large trailer to a spot on the small patio. Thayne will be happy to have the use of his trailer again.

And here I am admiring the lovely patio before we travel on to Serena's place.

Dana and Paxton wanted me to take their picture in their Lego town in Paxton's room.

Goodbye. We had a wonderful time!!!
