My 73rd Birthday-10

I have been trying to get rid of the underlining but can't seem to do it so here goes . . .

Marenda and I started our birthday celebration on Friday, May 21st, by having a date with our husbands and using our free dinner cards at Tucanos. (The guys
had to pay). Nyah went along with us but slept through the meal. Trina was good enough to watch Addie and Kasen so Marenda could enjoy her meal.

This is a picture of my plate - ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, a yummy green salad, watermelon and rolls.

Deren is quite pleased with his ability to hold a contented baby - Nyah is 2 months 11 years old. Are they both dozing?

Liz, Marenda and Trina prepare my annual birthday treat - strawberry shortcake.

That's me in front of my birthday sign with my "birthday cake" - yummy...

Garth thought this picture of the grandchildren on the couch eating brownies - the children's preference -
Mellissa, Mitchell, Kasen, Addie, Drake, Marcus, & Caleb.

Monday - May 24th
We woke to rain that turned to snow.
Fortunately, the temperature wasn't freezing and it didn't bother the garden plants and the snow melted shortly after it fell.

Signs of Spring

Our little pear tree and peach tree survived the winter and would like to have fruit on this year but we are afraid it would break the branches.

You can't see very well in these photos but the apricot tree is loaded this year. We hardly got any apricots last year so they will be welcome.

We finally planted our garden. There isn't a lot there but we did plant 11 tomato plants, 1 cucumber, 6 bell peppers, 1 parsley, 1 zucchini and we planted garden salad, radish and bush bean seeds and onion starts. In the distance the raspberry vines are getting ready to give us a good harvest.

I couldn't resist this picture of the Wisteria tree.

LIFE IS GOOD!

Gubler Cousins' Dinner - 5-14-10

After several phone calls, we finally put together a Gubler Cousins' dinner.

We met at Jane Rae Fuller Topham's house in Orem, Utah.
Those present: (Left to right) Sharon and Deon Gubler, Kevin and Kathy Fuller, Jane Rae Topham, Iris Slade, Lynne and Russell Carr, Garth Hansen, Harlan Harrison. (I took the picture).

The Arrival of our 24th Grandchild - May 1, 2010

On April 29th we took Shanda and her two children with us to Phoenix, Arizona for the birth of Kendra Halterman's 4th child

Things couldn't have worked out better had be been allowed to plan it. Kendra had 3 different due dates - the 26th of April, the first of May and the 4th of May.

We traveled on Thursday, April 29th, had Friday to put the house in order and prepare for the
home birth of the baby.

Kendra went into labor around 2:00 a.m. Saturday morning and Alec was born at 12:45 p.m. that day.The children helped bake a cake for the baby's birthday though he doesn't care much at this point.

Kira & Tessa get acquainted with their new little brother.

Sunday - May 2, Garth and I are admiring our newest little grandson.

Kira couldn't wait to hold her little brother. She will be a great big sister.

Alec Garth Halterman is only a day old here.

Little Tessa was my special charge during our stay there and she loved all of the attention.

We had put Tessa down on our bed to take a nap. This was what I found some time later - She had decided to empty my bag and was having a great time.

Aunt Shanda is holding Tessa and Alec.

Wednesday evening I got to go with Kira to a Primary girls' Mother/Daughter dinner.

The girls were told to make up the desserts for their "Mothers". Didn't Kira make a beautiful treat?

Garth is showing me part of the two level planter he was making for the front of the house.

Shanda and Garth took Tessa, Talia and Milo to the water park.

What do you think of these bathing beauties?
Tessa and Talia enjoy the sun.

It came time for us to leave. We took Shanda and children to
Montecello, Utah where Preston met us. We had a couple of hours to rest from driving while we waited.

Talia is the Princess in the castle. She was shinging, "My Daddy's lost. "

Adelyn (Addie) Brown Turns 5 Years Old!

On April 25th, 2010 we joined Marenda, Sam, Sam's mother (Chuck), Shanda and the children for Addie's birthday celebration.

Addie chose to have a butterfly cake then she wanted to decorate it so her mother got several packages of candy. As you can see, Addie used every bit of the candy on her cake. Isn't it beautiful!

Her cousin, Talia Hickman (3), wanted to be a part of everything.

I made a Snow White dress for Addie for her birthday and she is modeling it, though not

Little sister, Nyah, had to be a part of the festivities.

Here Nyah is about 6 weeks old.

Addie had a treasure hunt and opened her gifts.

THEN

It was time to blow out the candles and have some of that delicious candy covered cake.

Sewing with Caleb

Caleb was shopping with his mother, Trina, one day and he loved this green fleece and said he really wanted a bathrobe out of it.

Trina thought it would be nice for him to learn to sew by sewing it up himself.

I first had him practice on the machine using a piece of paper with lines and circles on it to see if he could follow the lines. He did surprisingly well.

I cut out the parts for the bathrobe then I marked the seams and pinned things together then he sewed the seams as instructed.

Here Caleb is proudly modeling his new robe.

Who Ever Knew a Dryer Would Be Such a Fun Play Thing?

In April, Shanda was here visiting and Trina and Marenda came with their little ones to work on making "felt food".

Our little grandchildren thought being in the clothes dryer was the neatest thing ever.

Talia and Milo Hickman

Mitchell Harding, Kasen Brown and Talia Hickman all try to get in together but it's a bit crowded.

Addie Brown is quite pleased with herself.
