Nyah and Addie Brown both have Rapunzel dresses from the movie, "Tangled" that I had made. Although Nyah is wearing a wig, that is Addie's own hair!

This is Marcus Harding beneath the mask and coverings.  I made the black tunic for him but he designed and made the amazing mask and gloves from foam and duck tape.  It's very impressive!

Drake Hansen - and I'll bet you wouldn't know what he is but I was informed he is a Nyan Cat.  It's an Internet neme.  He is wearing a poptart and flies through the air trailing a rainbow.  I made the sweat suit for his birthday but Liz came up with all the rest of the costume.

This cute couple are Max and Stephanie Outsen - dressed as Hansel and Gretel.  I was pleased to make Stephanie's dress from things I had here at home.

Kasen Brown is a combination of scary things and looks quite impressive

Shelby Hansen is wearing the Cora costume from one of the TV shows that she likes.  I'm a bit illiterate in that regard so can't tell you for sure which series, but it is an impressive costume - another one I made.

And last of all is sweet little Eve Harding dressed as a cat.

Halloween 2014

Halloween with all its fun and frustrations has come and gone once again.

As usual, we had a fun family gathering that involved most of last week to get ready for.

Following are some of the pictures of  foods and fun from this year's party. The pictures of the food are self explanatory.  Though this year I stayed with the fun - not scary foods for the benefit of some of my grandchildren.

Addie really got into the party planning this year and she found lots of things she wanted to make.  Marenda and Addie furnished this fun treat.

Deren requested that Liz make Chili for this year and she came up with some cute ghost biscuits to go with the delicious chili.

This was another of  Marenda and Addie's contributions. Not only do they look great but they were very tasty

The ghostly pops were also contributed by Marenda and Addie.  The bananas were covered with white chocolate and chocolate chips for eyes.

Max, Stephanie and Shelby went to our decorated garage and judged the Jack-o-lantern the children had brought

When we decorated, Addie came up and helped. She came up with the giant spider walking on the ceiling and the pillow case ghosts.

Summer Fun With Grandchildren

We had brief visits from Shanda's children in August and again in September and enjoyed having time with them so much.

Little Lola - age 1 year 4 months old is sitting at my sewing area watching TV and entertaining herself with the things around.

Jasper - age 4 - thought playing games on my Kindle was the best way to spend his time.

Talia - age 7 and Milo - age 6 were creating things with the Tinker Toys.

I couldn't resist this picture of Lola in the rocking chair.  They have one just like it at home in Colorado Springs so she felt right at home.

September 21st - Utah Wards didn't hold any Sunday meetings but make the Ogden Temple re-dedication available to all members 8 years and older.  We felt it was important for our children and grandchildren to be able to attend so we offered to have those children under 8 at our house during the meeting.  When they come to our house, because Papa (Garth) loves ice cream and usually has it on hand, they usually ask for ice cream the this Sunday was no exception.  They were on our deck eating it and when the littlest one - Soren - decided to climb in the picnic cupboard that Garth created out of extra lumber he had from our patio job in Springville, the others had to join him.

For the Hickman's first visit in August, I made Jasper a Hiccup costume for his birthday and for him to wear this Halloween.  This is from the kids' show, "How to Train a Dragon".  Doesn't he look adorable?

This isn't a good picture of Milo but I made him the dragon costume from the same movie and this pictures shows it best.  It was made from a hoodie jacket with eyes on the hood and a tail attached to the back.  Wings were separate and the pants had toes on the bottom of the feet. 

August was also Stephanie's birthday and we were able to have her and Max here for dinner.  They are such a darling couple!

Labor Day became a work day for the Browns and Hardings as they came and helped us remove grass in the strip in front of our house and replace the grass with rocks.

Drake Hansen wanted to make himself a Dr. Who coat and asked  if I would help here.  Here he is using my sewing machine and doing a very good job of sewing.













Addie Brown wanted to be involved in Drake's project and have a little time with us so she is helping by pinning things for Drake to sew.

The summer wouldn't have been
complete without a visit from our Michigan grandchildren.

Dana had been on the Trek this year and was interested in her ancestors so we went with them to Ogden and visited the cemetery where Garth's Great grandfather and the children's great great grandfather, Hans C. Hansen was buried. His cousin Darrell Hansen was good enough to go with us to show them around.
