Weekend Family Fun

Friday, August 5th and Saturday, August 6th found Garth and me and 4 of our children - Deren & Liz, Kerali, Trina and Guy & Marenda and Sam - and their children at the Skousen Family Camp south of Manti.

The main purpose was to find out if this would work for our 50th Anniversary celebration in 2012 but it was wonderful to have half of our family with us during this time.

Kerali took advantage of the time for an early birthday celebration for Trysten who turns 20 on the 23rd of this month. We all enjoyed a very chocolate cake and ice cream sandwiches.

Could Trysten be receiving a birthday "kiss" from Me Me Kalen? Taren and Mitchell are looking on

The rest of the pictures are pictures of the house and facility.

This picture was taken from the front door looking up at the loft that overlooks the living room area.

3rd level has just this loft area.

There are two queen sized beds in the loft but this area has no doors.

Looking from the loft down to the living room area and the front door.

2nd level or Main floor has a living room, kitchen, bathroom and this one bedroom.

This is the bedroom we stayed in. It was built after on part of the front deck/porch area. As you can see, it is just big enough or a queen sized bed and two small bedside tables.

The bottom level or basement has a game room, 2 small bedrooms and a bathroom.

I didn't get a picture of the 2nd bedroom.

One of the nicest things about the place is this Bunk House that was added later.

Inside of the bunk house looking from the door. This shows the bathroom and the door to the room in back

View of the bunk house from the opposite end showing the front doors. Each of the "bunks" has an extra mattress under it to be pulled out.

This is the room at the far end of the bunk house. It has two queen sized beds and has its own bathroom.

This is a view of the play area taken from the side road that goes up to the bunk house.

The little log cabin and the older trailer. We didn't use either of these facilities.

This bridge crosses a rather swift moving river to undeveloped property on the other side.

A view of the river in August. It will likely be higher in July.

In front of the house. The shade you see comes from the covered patio.

Another view of the house from the lawn side. I am thinking that we will move the table and use this as our stage area for the plays. (The little shed in back is just for equipment.)

Looking from the lawn area to the front of the house where the cars are parked.

By the front porch that goes up to the front door.

Vies of the house from the side you see first. The window is in the added on bedroom.

The "Evil Me Me" was waiting patiently for the older children to get their act together to get some filming done for the new version of "Crash Jordan".

I HOPE YOU ALL ENJOYED THE TOUR

Alec's Belated One Year Old Birthday Party

Before everyone arrived for the party on July 22nd, Kira found this cute costume and Trenton thought she was a good target for a little water.

Done in true Kendra Halterman style, the table is set for little people with mini hamburgers, cups with French fries and Catsup, little cups with baby carrots, finger jello in alphabet shapes, melon balls and juice boxes.

The cake is a block with ALEC written on.

The cake was impressive when cut.

The birthday boy thought putting my glasses on his head was the most fun thing to do.

Third Anual Play Day

This year's plays were held on July 18th, 2011 at the Harding "Theater" (back deck).

The first play was, "The Very Fractured Fairy Tales" with Kira Halterman as narrator, Taren Reynolds as Little Red Riding Hood, Kasen Brown as the Wolf, Mitchell Harding as Spiderman, Owen Reynolds as The Prince, Addie Brown as Snow White, Tessa Halterman as Dorothy and Nyah Brown, Eve Harding and Alec Halterman as the three little pigs.

Our second play was titled, "Anansi and the Talking Melon".

This was done with the older grandchildren.

The cast was:

Narrators- Kalen Reynolds and Sheridan Harding
Elephant - Drake Hansen, Anansi the Spider -

Tamlen Reynolds, Hippo - Marcus Harding, Lion King - Alden Reynolds, Zebra - Kira Halterman, Giraffe - Caleb Harding, Bush Deer - Owen Reynolds and Rino Trenton Halterman

Birthday and a Cherry Tree

It seems the summer has been "party time". We enjoyed joining the family at Marenda's place to celebrate Kasen's 4th birthday.

Here he is dressed in the Jake the Pirate costume that we gave him for his birthday.

The party was a success and finished up by a soccer ball pinata and birthday cake.

A little side light- We had a hard rain storm that flooded the street and plugged the storm drain. While we were cleaning it out, Kira, Trenton and Alec Halterman had a great time playing in the water.

WE WON A CHERRY TREE. One day we were shopping at Reams and Garth noticed a drawing and said he was going to fill out a form for it.

Well, We won one of the trees and it was loaded with many kings cherry candy. We "harvested" the cherries and shared them with our grandchildren who were at our house that day.

Owen is Baptized

It was a special time for us to get together on July 10th for the baptism of Owen Reynolds. In order for Trysten, who is working at Disney World to be a part of it, it was held at their home in Orem and Owen was baptized by his father in the jacuzzi in their back yard.

Brian's family and Deren, who conducted, is standing.

Owen and Taren Reynolds sang a number on the program

We felt very fortunate to be a part of this special time for Owen and his family.

Hansen Family Gathering July 2nd

With Thayne's family leaving the next day and Kendra and children arriving the day before, Saturday, July 2nd, 2011 was a day to enjoy most of our family for a few hours.

Of course we had to have some fun for our grandchildren with water play followed by popsicles

We had to have pictures of our four year olds-
In order of age -
Mitchell Harding
Taren Reynolds
Talia Hickman
Kasen Brown
Tessa Halterman

And our One year olds -

Eve Harding
Nyah Brown
Alec Halterman
Jasper Hickman

41 of family gathered together for a few hours.

We were missing Serena, Blair, Amanda, Stephanie Rosenhan, Trysten Reynolds who is working at Disney World and Barry Halterman, who was unable to be here.

FAMILY IS WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT!

My Birthday Wish You Were there!

On my birthday we traveled from Phoenix to LaVerkin, Utah. We had a couple of hours to visit with my Aunt Ardella on whose birthday I was born.

Last evening Jeanette was gracious enough to host a birthday dinner for us.

This is the lovely table setting.

Aunt Ardella who just turned 92 sat at one end of the table....

And I (74 ) sat at the other end.

You can't have a birthday without a birthday cake and LuDeen is a Master at delicious, beautiful cakes.

My birthday cake was always a strawberry short cake because the strawberries were just getting ripe in Southern Utah.

Sorry we can't share this with you. It was wonderful!

The birthday "girls" pose again.

A fun, fun evening with wonderful people.
