Nielson Reunion - July 3,4 & 5, 2008 - Kolob Mountain

I hesitated to post anything from the reunion because I didn't get very many pictures. I am hoping to have access to those Kendra and Barry took, soon.

This first picture is mostly of the Hansen clan and the Eric Nielson's.

This group is part of the Lundin group

And this last one is the Corrin Nielson group.

I was especially impressed with the Flag raising ceremony on the morning of the 4th - presented by Corrin and his family. Here, Corrin gave a history of the flags of the U.S.A.

My mother, Ruth Nielson - 100 years old - came to the mountain for activities on the 4th and had a chance to visit with a lot of her posterity.

Serena is showing off Kendra's little girl, Tessa Ruth - to her name sake.

I almost forgot to get a picture of our camp until it was too late and everyone had taken down their tents and put the tent trailers down.

As we were leaving, we had to stop at the reservoir for canoing. In the process, we went through tall grass that yanked the wiring to the trailer out of its socket. Blair spent most of his time there getting the wiring reconnected so we could take the trailer home with us.

Some of the grandchildren found this flock of ducks and were quite intrigued by them. That is Trina's youngest, Mitchell, wanting to go right out and get those ducks.

More of Shanda's & Talia's visit in June 2008

Take time to smell the roses. We had some lovely roses this year and Garth is helping Talia appreciate them.

Whenever I was working in the kitchen, my sweet little granddaughter, Talia, was right there to help me out.

Garth is great when it comes to designing and then building things. He decided he wanted better organization behind the pickup seat so he designed and built this lovely carrier and is showing it off to Shanda.

Talia loves to dance so I made her this pink skirt to dance in.

Preston and Gavin arrived to go camping with the family at the Nielson Reunion. This was taken on Sunday because I thought they all looked so nice in red.
Shanda, Preston, Gavin and Talia.

Garth and I got talked into having our picture taken.

Father's Day & Shanda's Visit

This is a bit late but I decided I needed to catch up from some of the summer happenings. We enjoyed having the 4 families and Shanda here for Father's Day.

The proud fathers are: Garth, Deren, Guy Harding, and Sam Brown.

Our ward had a swimming party at Spanish Fork Swimming pool and Shanda and Talia enjoyed going with us. I got into a swimsuit but I wasn't about to let anyone take a picture of me.

Talia thought she needed a "Back Pack" so I made this one for her.

We also got a kiddie pool so Talia could enjoy playing outside.

And, of course, she had to be my best helper with the cooking. There is nothing more fun than helping make bread - especially if you can snitch little pieces of bread dough.

Grandchild # 21- 8-7-08

GREETINGS FROM COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO

We are a bit sleep deprived (2 1/2 hours sleep last night) but are very happy and grateful that things went so well yesterday and last night and Milo Hansen Hickman joined our family at 1:23 this morning - Thursday, the 7th day of August, 2008

The words of Shanda's midwife, "You are my hero" best describes how things went. She had hoped it would be shorter but labor was pretty much like Talia's birth.

We arrived Monday evening to prepare for the birth of this baby. While we waited, Garth and I refinished an old dresser that Shanda and Preston have for Talia to use.

As we waited for things to develop, Talia got bored and took a little rest.

Jan, Shanda's midwife, came around 8:00 p.m. and decided she needed to stay. We still had a few hours to wait for the blessed event so Shanda opted to play a game (while she was in labor). Here, Garth, Shanda, Jan - the midwife- and Preston are playing Sequence

Talia was put to bed at 8:00 p.m. but was awake by 10:00. Garth tried taking her for a ride but that didn't help. She knew something was going on and insisted on being present. Milo was just 5 or 10 minutes old when this picture was taken.

An hour or so after his birth and after the cord was cut and Shanda was being sewn up, I got to hold my grandson for the first time.

I'm sure there will be lots more pictures to follow.

Radiant in Red

Not only does Talia look adorable in this new red dress that her mother, Shanda, made for her, but I am so pleased that my sweet daughter is taking the time to learn to sew and doing such a good job.

Papa, Talia and The Hat

What fun it has been to have Talia with us since June 1st. She loves to be doing things and loves her Papa. For some reason his work hat seems to intrigue her. I think you can follow the action here.

1. Wow! this is a neat hat! Let me see it.

2. Is this the way I do it?

3. Ummm. I don't think it quite fits.

4. Look Papa, I'm wearing your hat!

The Blessing of Grandchildren

People ask us what we have been up to
lately not that we don't have to go to LaVerkin every 3rd week. As you can see, we have been having fun tending and being with some of our younger grandchildren.

Earlier I had a picture of Mitchell exploring my sewing area. Talia is finding all of the drawers and little things fascinating. It is interesting to note the difference in boys and girls. Talia seemed to open and close things where Mitchell seemed bent on emptying everything and throwing it around.

Here Mitchell is helping me fix breakfast. Notice that his favorite bear he close by.

When we were tending Kasen & Addie, Kasen wasn't feeling well but found comfort with his grandfather.

Some times a grandmother needs more arms.
Mitchell had pretty much claimed my attention but Talia also wanted to be included.

Talia loves water in any form so Garth is showing Talia the way the water comes out of our "kids'" sprinkler.
